“A Good Death”
The term euthanasia comes from a Greek word meaning “good death”. While it’s hard to imagine death as good, euthanasia is a gift for our pets that are suffering.
Appointment
After arrival at your house, a few minutes will be spent greeting you and your pet, going over some paperwork, accepting payment, and answering any questions you may have. This will allow us to fully focus on your pet for the remainder of the appointment.
Once your pet is happy in their favorite spot, a sedative will be administered. When the sedative has taken effect and your family is OK with proceeding, the euthanasia injection will be administered.
Aftercare
You may choose between home burial, communal cremation with no return of ashes, or private cremation with return of ashes. If you have chosen private cremation, your pet will be transferred to Pet Angel Memorial Center. Please note that our Pet Angel facility only offers private or communal cremation. They do NOT do individual cremation (where multiple pets are cremated together but separated by a barrier)
If your pet is over 30 lbs, Dr. Tapp will need assistance carrying him/her to the car after the appointment. Once your pet’s ashes have been delivered to us, we will contact you to arrange his/her trip back home.
While we primarily work with Pet Angel Memorial Center, we also offer private & communal cremation through Pet Haven, a local facility.
If you choose to bury your pet at home, consider using a Euthabag. They can be purchased on Amazon.
